According to a paper in the journal “Science,” David Leigh and his colleagues have tied the world’s tiniest knot out of a 20 nanometer string of 192 atoms. It took them two days to make a cloverleaf knot and seal the ends together. This is 1/10,000th the width of a human hair!

But only the sharpest thing in the universe could possibly UNTIE a knot that tiny...
